Aid agencies have raised concern that Israel is not ensuring enough access for food, medicine and other desperately needed humanitarian supplies into Gaza. European Union foreign policy chief Josep Borrell has accused Israel of using starvation as a weapon of war.
Israel has approved reopening the Erez crossing into northern Gaza and temporary use of Ashdod port in southern Israel after U.S. President Joe Biden demanded earlier this month that steps be taken to alleviate the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, saying conditions could be placed on U.S. support for Israel if it did not act.
