Austrian authorities said on Wednesday (August 7) that two people suspected of plotting terror attacks in Vienna had been detained, hours before Taylor Swift’s three concerts this week were cancelled after the government confirmed a planned attack at the stadium. Franz Ruf, director general for public security at the Austrian interior ministry, said a 19-year-old Austrian citizen was arrested in Ternitz, Lower Austria, with an additional connected arrest having been made in Vienna later in the afternoon. Ruf added that investigations found the suspects to have been radicalised on the internet, with the 19-year-old swearing allegiance to the leader of the Islamic State at the beginning of July.
