Several hundred climate activists on Saturday (September 16) staged colorful and noisy protests in central London and in Edinburgh, Scotland, to demand an end to the use of fossil fuels. Organizers said the demonstrations were timed to coincide with the start of the UN General Assembly in New York and that protests were being held in other cities to pressure world leaders into taking action on global warming.
