IPC minister, PSB DG hold meeting with PFF NC chief

IPC minister, PSB DG hold meeting with PFF NC chief : Lahore, Pakistan: The Minister Federal for Inter-Provincial Coordination and the Pakistan Sports Board Director General had a virtual meeting with chairperson of FIFA’s appointed Pakistan Football Federation Normalisation Committee on Thursday. This was the most recent in a series of discussions to try to get rid of the suspension imposed by the international football body on the nation.

“Both me and [IPC Minister] Dr Fehmida Mirza held a virtual meeting and discussed different matters with PFF NC chairman Haroon Malik,” PSB Director Asif Zaman told Dawn.

Harpoon is present in Canada for the past few months since an organization led by Syed Ashfaq Shah forcibly took the control of the FIFA House from him in March, just before FIFA exiled Pakistan.

Two of members in the PFF NC, Haris Azmat and Shahid Khokhar had previously been in contact with Fehmida while the IPC minister urged Haroon to return to Pakistan to resolve the issue as quickly as feasible.

“The meeting with Haroon was held in a very positive way and hopefully upon his arrival in Pakistan things will move on a fast track to end the FIFA’s ban as soon as possible,” Asif said.

“Since when I started working for the PSB in March, the problem of the PFF was raised, and we are working to address this issue as efficiently as we can and every effort is being initiated to address it.

“I am hopeful that soon all the fighting groups will be on one page to move forward.”

He said that Haroon will return to Pakistan and that a meeting was scheduled for after Eid-ul-Fitr.

Furthermore, regarding the recent resolution of the body general of Pakistan Olympic Association, in which it voiced its concerns over the decision of the sports ministry establishing the Election Commission and the Appellate Tribunal to oversee the whole election process for all national sports federations Asif declared it was false perception , and that the ministry will continue to bring all those involved into faith before deciding on the next sports policy.

“In the first phase the sports minister has held a meeting with four national sports federations and she will meet more federation heads as due to Covid-19 it is not possible to call all the stakeholders under one roof,” he added.

This week in the week that was the POA called an emergency meeting, and expressed a deep worry over the news that came in that government plans to establish the Election Commission and an Appellate tribunal to completely control the process for deciding elections of the national federations for sports. In the meantime, the POA warns that as a the end, these national sports bodies could be forced to suspend their international chapters, similar to what FIFA has done with the PFF because no international body will allow any third interference in the administration of the national sports associations.
