On The Scene: Riders from around the world gathered in northwest England for what organizers described as a test of /”skill, endurance and perhaps most of all bravery/” at an international penny farthing cycle race. The penny farthing bicycle takes its name from its resemblance to two pre-decimal British coins – the penny and the much smaller farthing.
