Drone footage captured on Wednesday (November 8) showed toxic smog shrouding New Delhi as air quality in the Indian capital bordered on ‘hazardous’ levels. Delhi’s air quality index (AQI) was put at 300 on Tuesday (November 7). An AQI of 0-50 is considered good while a reading above 100 is termed unhealthy for those with pulmonary issues. Anything between 301-500 is considered hazardous. Delhi has stopped local construction, closed primary schools till Friday (November 10) and will impose restrictions on use of vehicles next week to fight pollution, but it wants its neighbouring states to control crop residue burning.
