Taiwan residents offer flowers, fruit in demolition ceremony for quake-hit buildings ANC
Workers prepared for a ceremony early on Friday (April 5) ahead of a planned demolition of a quake-hit building in Hualien, which has been leaning precariously since the 7.2 magnitude earthquake hit two days ago killing 10 people. Offering tables with flowers, fruit and joss paper were set up in front of the tilted building, as people prayed for its smooth deconstruction. Residents said they were not worried about the operation saying authorities will ensure neighboring buildings are safe.
