A top U.N. aid official on Wednesday (April 24) urged /”further definitive and urgent steps/” from Israel to allow a sustained flow of assistance into the Gaza Strip, saying aid workers needed safe access to and throughout the enclave of 2.3 million people. A U.N.-backed report published in March said that famine was imminent and likely to occur by May in northern Gaza and could spread across the enclave by July.
