Ipinasa ng Kamara ang panukalang batas sa ikatlo at huling pagbasa noong Marso 20.
Ayon sa mga kongresista, nilabag ng SMNI ang prangkisa nito dahil sa pagpapakalat ng fake news at hate speech.
Inalmahan sa franchise hearings ang binanggit ng mga host sa programa ng network, partikular sina Lorraine Badoy at Jeffrey Celiz, sa umano’y P1.8 billion na gastos sa biyahe ni House Speaker Martin Romualdez.
Sabi naman ng mga abugado ng SMNI, hindi intensyunal kung may maling impormasyon man na umere.
Pinuna rin ng mga kongresista ang pagbabago umano sa corporate structure ng SMNI nang walang pahintulot ng Kongreso at ang pagkabigo umano ng SMNI na ialok sa publiko ang hindi bababa sa 30 percent ng stocks ng korporasyon sa securities exchange.
Tingin ng mga abugado ng network na nakaugnay kay Kingdom of Jesus Christ Pastor Apollo Quiboloy, posibleng may kinalaman ang isyu ng prangkisa sa 2028 presidential race.
Tugon naman ng mga kongresista, hindi pulitika ang dahilan ng panukala kundi mga pinagbatayang paglabag ng network.
