NBI Director Medardo de Lemos said an intermediary from Lee’s camp informed the NBI that the businessman wanted to surrender.
Lee, however, denied that they illegally detained Navarro in 2014.
“Mag-aappeal kami. We will exhaust all legal remedies… Walang illegal detention na nangyari. Kung titingnan niyo lahat ng elements ng crime, wala. So we never detained him for more than a day. We never inflicted serious physical injuries,/” he said.
He also denied extorting money from Navarro.
“Hindi ransom ‘yun. Wala ‘yung mga elements. Nagkasakitan lang ng kaunti. Slight injuries. May nasaktan din naman sa amin noong lumaban siya. Hindi naman dapat magkaroon ng life imprisonment para sa bugbugan lang,” he said.
