On June 8, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology placed Mayon Volcano under Alert Level 3 amid its unrest. 

Residents living within Mayon’s six-kilometer danger zone were evacuated. However, despite the dangers and risks of the rumbling Mayon, some residents chose to stay behind.
