Scuba diving instructor and resort owner Carmela Sevilla hopes to help preserve Bauan, Batangas’ bountiful population of coral reefs by planting coral nurseries for damaged coral across the coast. Bauan’s diverse coral population has frequently suffered from natural calamities like typhoons and man-made obstructions like plastic waste and dynamite fishing, and from environmental threats such as bleaching amid climate change.
